Sharif Ashanti Abdus-Salaam, MD
Dr Salaam is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon with sub-specialty interest in upper and lower extremity joint replacement surgery. He is a native of Port St. Lucie, Florida but has lived and practiced in the Memphis area for 15 years. He received his bachelors degree in mechanicalengineering from Southern University, Baton Rouge and worked as a mechanical engineer in Florida, Kansas and Oklahoma prior to attending medical school at the Howard University College of Medicine. He completed residency in orthopedic surgery at Howard University and a fellowship in shoulder and upper extremity reconstructive surgery at the San Francisco Shoulder, Elbow and Hand clinic (California Pacific Medical Center). He is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and a fellow of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons. Dr Salaam has presented at national and international meetings on various orthopedic topics. His practice focus is upper and lower extremity joint replacement. He performs primary and revision total hip, knee, shoulder, elbow and wrist replacement surgery. However, he also enjoys general orthopedics to meet the needs of the Olive Branch and Mid-South community. He places a premium on patient education and patient participation in formulating a treatment plan. In his spare time he enjoys reading, fishing, homesteading and mentoring. He and his wife have two daughters.
